Where to begin
Euthanasia…not an easy subject for anyone to bring up or want to discuss.
Pet owners ask, “How will I know it’s time?” and veterinarians respond, “You will know when it’s time”.
But how DO we know when it is time…My way of answering that question is when the bad days outnumber the good days.
Each situation is unique and has many variables at play, but ultimately, when a pet owner can count more bad days for the month/week than good ones, it is a pretty good indicator that it is time to consider euthanasia. As a pet owner, we made a promise to take care of them in good health and bad. Sometimes the kindest, gentlest, most humane thing we can do for them is euthanasia.
Our Approach
Quality-of-life exams are offered before to help pet owners come to peace with their decision. It is at this time we discuss in-clinic euthanasia vs using the service of an at home euthanasia provider. Some pet owners prefer to have their “own” veterinarian provide the service in-clinic because that is who they trust and are comfortable with. Others prefer to have it done in the comfort of their own home by an in home euthanasia service, where it can be less traumatic for their beloved pet and more private for the pet owner.
